THEYSOHN REPLACEMENT SCREWS AND BARRELS

  Single screws and twin screws
The production of screws to many different designs reflects the experience and capabilities to be found at Theysohn.

The implementation of plasma welding and plasma spraying equipment provides us with the specialised facilities needed to finish screws with protected surfaces - to reduce wear. We can generate a range of hard and non-wearing surfaces using Ni/Co based alloys, as well as using specially developed and modified WC alloys.

Nitrided screws are now the standard specification for many area of application, in particular in extruders with parallel screws. Where demands and stresses are higher, and where conical extruders are needed, the flights are also given appropriate surface treatment. Coatings with molybdenum and molybdenum alloys have also been found to have good slip properties.

Single screw and twin screw barrels
The Salzgitter plant is equipped with everything necessary for the production of nitrided single and twin screw barrels.

All components are manufactured in accordance with our high standards of quality, for the most part on computerized numerically-controlled machines.
Continuous measurement and inspection reports accompany the components from blank to finished product.

Theysohn has developed its own techniques and special machinery for gun drilling and honing, in particular for tapered holes. These finishing techniques, together with the knowledge and experience of our qualified technical staff, guarantee the greatest accuracy and the best surface quality.

Theysohn Extruder-Komponenten Salzgitter
    Barrels and screw shafts
Theysohn supplies barrels and screw shafts for compounding extruders. The standard barrel is made of deep nitrided steel.

Barrel sections with interchangeable wear inserts made from our through-hardened special steel have good resistance to abrasive wear which can occur when working with plastics or additives.

In order to counteract corrosive wear, inserts are made of throughhardened rust-resistant and acidresistant steels. In cases of extreme wear, barrels can also be manufactured using powder- metallurgical materials

Screw shafts made of tempered steel guarantee perfect transmission of the torques required.
